Detailed 7-Day Rwanda Gorillas & Serengeti Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Airport pick up to Arusha

On arrival at the airport, you will be met by your driver guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Enjoy a short drive through Arusha town on the way to your hotel. Check in and relax for the evening as you get used to the new surroundings.

Day 2–3: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, drive from Arusha to Serengeti National Park for an unforgettable wildlife experience. Spend two days exploring the wide open plains and enjoy game drives where you will see wildebeests, zebras, lions, cheetahs, gazelles, hippos, rhinos, and many bird species.

Take time to enjoy every moment as Serengeti offers great opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing. Return to your lodge each evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater game drive

Leave Serengeti early in the morning and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying a game drive along the way. Descend about 2,000 feet into the Ngorongoro Crater for a 5-hour game drive across the swamps, forests, and soda lake that make up the crater floor.

The crater is home to over 25,000 animals and around 400 bird species, making it one of the best places for wildlife viewing in Tanzania. In the evening, drive back to Arusha for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Flight to Kigali, Rwanda

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Kigali, Rwanda. Upon arrival, your safari driver will meet you and drive you to your accommodation near Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at the lodge.

Day 6: Volcanoes National Park – Gorilla trekking

After an early breakfast, head to the park offices for a briefing about gorilla trekking. Trek through the thick forest in search of a gorilla family, with chances to see golden monkeys and various bird species along the way.

Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them before returning to the park offices. In the afternoon, relax at your lodge in Volcanoes National Park.
