Detailed 4-Day Bwindi & Queen Elizabeth Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park from Kampala or Entebbe

Your driver guide will meet you at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe and start the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

Enjoy the drive through Uganda’s countryside, with a stop at the Uganda Equator for photos and a short water experiment. You will also stop at a local restaurant for lunch before continuing to Bwindi. Arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early and head to the park offices for a briefing that lasts about 30 minutes. You will learn the trekking rules, join a group of up to eight trekkers, and be assigned a ranger guide. The trek usually takes 3 to 5 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, spend one hour watching them as they feed, play, and care for their young.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and check out. Begin your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, driving through the Ishasha sector, which is known for its tree-climbing lions. If time allows, enjoy a short game drive before checking in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise

Start the day early with a game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Look out for elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, warthogs, leopards, hyenas, and other animals. Morning hours offer the best chance to see predators hunting.

Return to the lodge for breakfast, relaxation, and lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. This area is known for its large number of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes, as well as many birds like pelicans, cormorants, fish eagles, and kingfishers. After the cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Optional activity and transfer back to Kampala

After breakfast, you may choose an optional activity such as visiting Lake Katwe or taking a Kasoga community tour. Later, start your drive back to Kampala. Stop at the Equator monument for photos and have lunch in Kayabwe town.

Arrive in Kampala or Entebbe in the evening and be dropped off at your preferred location, marking the end of your 4-day Bwindi and Queen Elizabeth National Park safari.
