Detailed 6-Day Bwindi & Serengeti Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Serengeti National Park
On arrival at Arusha Airport in Tanzania, you will meet your driver-guide for a short briefing about the safari. You will then begin your 5-hour journey to Serengeti National Park. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, and enjoy dinner and rest.
Day 2: Full-day game drive
After breakfast, head out for a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park. You will carry a packed lunch and spend the day exploring the vast plains.
Look out for the Big Five animals; lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalos, as well as other species such as zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, cheetahs, hyenas, and antelopes. Enjoy your packed lunch in the park before continuing your game drive in the afternoon.
Evening is the best time to see predators hunting as the temperatures cool down. Watch lions and cheetahs stalk their prey near water sources before heading back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Drive to Kilimanjaro Airport and fly to Entebbe, Uganda
After breakfast, drive from your lodge to Kilimanjaro International Airport to catch your flight to Uganda. The flight takes about one and a half hours. Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will meet your Ugandan driver-guide, who will take you to your hotel in Entebbe for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. The drive takes about 8 to 9 hours with a lunch stop along the way. Enjoy views of the countryside, green farms, and terraced hills as you approach Bwindi.
Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, and relax over dinner before resting for the night.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Batwa experience
Start your day early with a hot breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking rules and safety. You will be grouped with other trekkers (a maximum of 8 people per group) and assigned a ranger guide.
The trek through the forest can take between 2 and 6 hours depending on where the gorillas are located. When you find them, you will spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photos. Watch them feed, play, and interact with one another before returning to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the nearby Batwa community. The Batwa are the original inhabitants of Bwindi Forest and have lived here for generations. Learn about their culture, traditions, and forest survival skills such as fire making and hunting. Visit their craft markets, buy souvenirs, and enjoy their music and dances before heading back to your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 6: Transfer back to Entebbe for departure
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and start your journey back to Entebbe. You will stop for lunch on the way before continuing to the airport for your flight home.
This marks the end of your 6-Day Bwindi gorilla trek & Serengeti National Park safari.
