Main Ways to Pay for a Gorilla Permit
There are only two main ways to secure and pay for a gorilla permit.
Booking Through a Trusted Tour Operator
This is the easiest and most common way for tourists to book and pay for a gorilla permit. The tourist sends an inquiry to a tour operator with preferred trekking dates. The tour operator then checks the Uganda Wildlife Authority booking system to confirm permit availability for those dates.
Once the dates are confirmed, the tour operator reserves the permit and sends an invoice showing the full permit cost. The tourist is then asked to make payment in advance.
Trusted tour operators offer several payment options. These usually include bank transfers for international travelers, credit or debit cards, and online payment platforms. After full payment is received, the tour operator purchases the permit on behalf of the tourist and sends a scanned copy of the permit.
Booking Directly With Uganda Wildlife Authority
Tourists can also book permits directly through the Uganda Wildlife Authority. This can be done online or in person at the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices in Kampala.
The tourist must first contact Uganda Wildlife Authority by email with preferred trekking dates to check availability. Once availability is confirmed, Uganda Wildlife Authority sends an invoice with the full cost of the permit.
