Detailed 7-Day Bwindi & Tsavo Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up from Kampala and drive to Bwindi National Park

A professional guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala in a comfortable safari vehicle. Begin the 10-hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Enjoy the journey as you pass through Uganda’s beautiful highlands, plains, and green forests.

Stop for lunch in Mbarara at Igongo Cultural Center, where you can learn about the culture of the Banyankole people and taste a local meal. Continue to Bwindi, arriving in the evening. Check in at your lodge, relax, and enjoy views of the forest from your balcony. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour

After an early breakfast, go to the park offices for a briefing from the rangers about gorilla trekking. Enter the forest to track a family of mountain gorillas. The trek can take several hours depending on where the gorillas are. Spend one hour with them, watching and photographing these amazing animals.

After lunch, visit the Batwa community nearby. The Batwa are the original forest inhabitants who lived as hunters and gatherers. They will share their traditions, music, and dances with you and explain how they survived in the forest. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.

Day 3: Drive to Entebbe and fly to Mombasa

After breakfast, begin the long journey back to Entebbe International Airport, about 10 hours away. Stop for lunch on the way. Upon arrival at the airport, take a flight to Mombasa, Kenya.

When you reach Mombasa, transfer to your hotel, check in, and relax as you enjoy the view of the Indian Ocean. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4: Mombasa to Tsavo West, evening game drive

After breakfast, drive for about 4 hours to Tsavo West National Park. Along the way, enjoy the scenic Kenyan landscapes.

Arrive at your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the evening, go for a game drive to see wildlife such as elephants, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, and the famous Tsavo lions. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer to Tsavo East National Park

Start your day with an early morning game drive to spot more animals, including big cats and grazing herds. Return to the lodge for breakfast and later check out.

Drive about 117 kilometers to Tsavo East National Park. On arrival, check in at your lodge and take a short walk around the area to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6: Explore Tsavo East National Park

After breakfast, head out for a guided morning game drive in Tsavo East. Look out for elephants, lions, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, and other wildlife roaming across the plains.

Return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, visit Mudanda Rock, a famous viewpoint in the park, and enjoy the scenery. Later, continue to Lugard Falls, known for their strong water flow and great photo opportunities. Return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Transfer to Mombasa

After breakfast, pack your bags and check out. Drive for about three hours back to Mombasa, marking the end of your 7-day Bwindi and Tsavo National Park safari.
