Detailed 21-Day East Africa Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Kigali

You will be met by our company representative upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. You will then be transferred to your hotel in Kigali City for dinner and overnight stay. Welcome to Rwanda.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up for the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. Enjoy the scenic drive through the hills of Rwanda. After clearing border formalities, continue into Uganda.

On arrival in Bwindi, visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience. Learn about their ancient way of life when they lived in the forest and how life has changed since they left it. Dinner and overnight will be at your lodge.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up in the home of nearly half of the world’s mountain gorillas. After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for a briefing about the trekking rules. Enter the forest with your ranger guide to track the gorillas.

Once you find them, spend one full hour observing them and taking photos. Return to the starting point to receive your trekking certificate, then drive back for lunch, dinner, and overnight at your lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali – Flight to Nairobi

After an early breakfast, drive to Kigali and enjoy a short city tour. Visit local markets and cultural sites before your driver drops you at the airport for your flight to Nairobi.

Upon arrival in Nairobi, a company representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Welcome to Kenya.

Day 5: Drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, drive north toward Mount Kenya to reach Ol Pejeta Conservancy. This is the only place in Kenya where you can see chimpanzees and the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world.

Enjoy lunch on arrival and later take an afternoon game drive to see wildlife such as elephants, lions, rhinos, and many others. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 6: Explore Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Spend the day exploring the conservancy. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with a picnic lunch. Visit the Rhino Sanctuary and the Chimpanzee Sanctuary to learn about the conservation work being done. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 7: Drive to Lake Naivasha

After breakfast, drive south to Lake Naivasha. On arrival, have lunch and then explore the area. Enjoy a guided nature walk on Crescent Island and a boat ride on the lake to see birds and hippos. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara National Reserve, the most famous park in Kenya. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an evening game drive to spot wildlife. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Days 9 & 10: Masai Mara National Reserve exploration

Spend two full days exploring the vast plains of Masai Mara. The area is known for its grasslands, rivers, and wildlife. You may witness the annual migration of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles between July and October.

You will also see lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, and many bird species. You can take an optional hot air balloon safari for a bird’s-eye view of the park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 11: Cross border to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, depart Masai Mara and drive to the Isebania border. Complete immigration procedures and enter Tanzania. Continue to Serengeti National Park with a game drive en route to your lodge.

Serengeti is known for its large populations of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and predators like lions and cheetahs. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Days 12 & 13: Explore Serengeti National Park

Spend two days exploring Serengeti National Park. The plains offer some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa. You may see predators hunting and large herds moving across the Savannah.

Visit the Seronera Valley for great game sightings. If you visit during the migration season, you may witness the famous wildebeest migration. You can also book a hot air balloon safari at an extra cost. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 14: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, enjoy a game drive through the Serengeti as you travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Stop at the Olduvai Gorge, known for its archaeological discoveries.

Arrive in the afternoon and visit a traditional Masai village before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 15: Explore Ngorongoro Crater and transfer to Lake Manyara National Park

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater is home to about 25,000 animals and more than 450 bird species. Enjoy close-up views of wildlife including lions, elephants, zebras, and flamingos.

After a picnic lunch, continue to Lake Manyara National Park and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Game drive in Lake Manyara National Park and flight to Zanzibar

After breakfast, enjoy a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its elephants and tree-climbing lions. Other animals include buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, and monkeys. You may also see flamingos along the lake shores.

Later, transfer to the airstrip for your domestic flight to Zanzibar. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town for dinner and overnight.

Day 17: Stone Town and Spice Tour

After breakfast, explore Stone Town, a World Heritage Site known for its culture and history. Visit the Sultan’s Palace, House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and the Anglican Church. Take time for lunch and shopping.

In the afternoon, enjoy a Spice Tour to learn about the spices grown on the island and why Zanzibar is known as the “Spice Island.” Later, transfer to your beach resort for dinner and overnight.

Days 18–20: Beach holiday in Zanzibar

Relax and unwind on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar. Enjoy swimming, sunbathing, or optional activities like snorkeling or visiting nearby islands. Spend these days at leisure. Dinner and overnight at your beach resort.

Day 21: Departure

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your international flight back home.
