Detailed 15-Day East Africa Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver guide and begin your safari to Masai Mara National Reserve, one of Kenya’s most popular parks. Arrive at your camp in the afternoon in time for lunch. Later, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the vast plains of Masai Mara. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 2: Full-day game drive
After breakfast, carry packed lunch boxes and head out for a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara plains. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration at the Mara River. Look out for wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and many bird species. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park
Begin the day with a sunrise game drive to spot predators like lions, leopards, hyenas, and jackals on their morning hunt. After breakfast, check out and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park with lunch en route. Arrive in the afternoon and enjoy game viewing as you drive to your lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge or camp.
Day 4: Transfer back to Nairobi and travel to Arusha
Enjoy a short morning game drive in Lake Nakuru before breakfast. Check out and drive back to Nairobi, stopping for lunch. Later, continue your journey to Tanzania through the Namanga border. After completing immigration formalities, proceed to Arusha for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 5: Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, home to the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. On arrival, have lunch at your lodge, followed by an afternoon guided walk or short drive around the crater rim. Return for dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 6: Explore the Ngorongoro Crater floor
After breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. This area is home to about 25,000 animals, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, hyenas, zebras, gazelles, and wildebeests, as well as many bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designated spot, then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park, one of Tanzania’s most famous parks. Enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge, where you will arrive for lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing before an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 8: Explore the Serengeti plains
Spend the day exploring the Serengeti plains. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the Great Wildebeest Migration. Watch herds of wildebeests, zebras, elephants, and buffaloes, along with lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, famous for its elephants and tree-climbing lions. Other animals here include giraffes, zebras, hippos, buffaloes, monkeys, and many birds, including flamingos. Have lunch on arrival and enjoy an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at your lodge or camp.
Day 10: Explore Lake Manyara
After breakfast, go for another game drive to explore different areas of the park. Look out for lions resting in acacia trees and the flamingos around the lake. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 11: Drive to Kilimanjaro Airport – Fly to Uganda
After breakfast, drive to Kilimanjaro Airport, stopping in Arusha for shopping. Board your flight to Uganda. On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet our driver guide who will transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala for dinner and overnight.
Day 12: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the mountain gorillas. Stop at the Equator for photos and in Mbarara for lunch. Continue to Bwindi and arrive in the evening. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for registration and a briefing about gorilla trekking. You will be assigned a gorilla family and a ranger guide. Hike through the forest to find the gorillas, and once you do, spend one full hour observing them and taking photos. Return to the headquarters to receive your trekking certificate. You may also take an optional evening village walk or visit the Batwa community. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 14: Drive back to Kampala
After breakfast, begin your drive back to Kampala. Arrive in the evening and check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. Spend the rest of the day relaxing.
Day 15: Transfer to Entebbe Airport
After breakfast, drive to Entebbe Airport for your flight back home.
