Detailed 10-Day Uganda, Rwanda & Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Arrive in Uganda through Entebbe International Airport. After a short briefing about your safari, drive west to Kibale Forest National Park. Enjoy the scenic countryside views along the way with a stop for lunch. Continue the journey and arrive at your lodge before evening for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi tour

After breakfast, join a pre-trekking briefing with the park rangers about chimpanzee trekking rules. You will then join a small group and walk into the forest with a ranger guide. Follow the sounds of the chimpanzees until you find them in their natural home. Spend one hour watching them play, feed, and interact. Take photos and enjoy the moment before returning to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. A local guide will show you around, explaining the wetland’s importance and the species that live there. You may spot monkeys, birds, and other small animals. Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, check out and drive south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The journey takes you through green landscapes and local communities, with a stop for lunch along the way. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and drive to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, head to the park offices for a short briefing about gorilla trekking. You will be assigned a gorilla family and guided into the forest by rangers. The trek may take several hours depending on the location of the gorillas.

When you meet them, spend one hour observing their behavior as they feed, rest, and play. The silverback will keep a watchful eye as you take photos quietly. Return to the lodge for lunch, then drive across the border into Rwanda through the Katuna crossing. Arrive at Volcanoes National Park in the evening and check into your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 5: Golden monkey tracking and Iby’iwacu cultural tour

After breakfast, go to the park offices for a briefing before golden monkey trekking. Follow the rangers through the bamboo forest to find the golden monkeys. Once you locate them, spend an hour watching them feed, groom, and move around in their social groups. Return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village. Meet the local people and learn about their traditions, beliefs, and daily life. Enjoy songs, dances, and storytelling before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Drive to Kigali International Airport and fly to Tanzania (Kilimanjaro Airport)

After breakfast, leave Volcanoes National Park and drive to Kigali International Airport. Enjoy the beautiful views of Rwanda’s hills along the way. Take your scheduled flight to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Arusha for dinner and rest.

Day 7: Drive from Arusha to Ngorongoro and afternoon game drive

After breakfast, drive from Arusha to Ngorongoro. The journey takes about 4 to 5 hours with lovely views of the countryside. Arrive at your lodge for lunch, then go on an afternoon game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater.

This crater, often called the Garden of Eden, is home to many animals, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos, hyenas, cheetahs, zebras, and gazelles. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.

Day 8: Morning game drive in Ngorongoro and transfer to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the crater. You may see lions returning from their night hunt, leopards resting in trees, and elephants walking to water sources. Watch herds of buffaloes, zebras, and wildebeests grazing peacefully.

Return to the lodge for lunch, then check out and drive to Serengeti National Park. Arrive before sunset and check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, set out for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. The Serengeti is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife areas and home to countless animals such as lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, giraffes, and hippos. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the Great Migration as herds of wildebeests and zebras move across the plains.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, then continue exploring until late afternoon. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.
