Detailed 7-Day Uganda & Tanzania Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali early in the morning and begin a scenic drive through the hills of northern Rwanda. Cross the border into southwestern Uganda and continue to your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Spend the evening relaxing at the lodge as you prepare for your exciting adventure the next day.
Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Mountain gorilla trekking
Today you will go gorilla trekking, an unforgettable experience that allows you to meet the gentle giants of the forest. The trek can take between 2 to 7 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family you are visiting. Once you find them, you will spend one full hour watching them and taking photos.
After the trek, you can take a short walk around the nearby village or relax at your lodge for the rest of the day.
Day 3: Drive or fly to Entebbe and fly to Tanzania
After breakfast, you can either take a domestic flight to Entebbe or enjoy a scenic road trip. If you choose to drive, you will have lunch along the way and stop at the equator for photos and a short explanation about the 0-degree latitude line. You will also pass through Kampala, Uganda’s capital city.
From Entebbe, you will catch your flight to Tanzania. Upon arrival at Arusha airport, your Tanzanian guide will welcome you and drive you to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4–5: Serengeti National Park
Spend two full days exploring Serengeti National Park on game drives. Enjoy watching lions, elephants, leopards, zebras, wildebeests, and many other animals across the wide open plains.
You can also choose to take part in optional activities such as a hot air balloon safari, a walking safari, or a visit to a local community. Return to your lodge each evening for dinner and rest.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Enjoy a game drive on the crater floor, which is home to many animals including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and rhinos.
You can also visit the Olduvai Gorge, a famous archaeological site, and stop by a Maasai village to learn about their culture and way of life. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Departure – End of safari
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Arusha airport to catch your flight home, marking the end of your 7-day Uganda and Tanzania safari.
