Detailed 7-Day Bwindi & Amboseli Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Entebbe, pick up, and optional city tour in Kampala
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and meet your tour guide. You will then drive to Kampala, where you will check in at your hotel and enjoy dinner.
If you arrive early, you can take an optional city tour in Kampala. Visit the Independence Monument for photography and learn about Uganda’s history before and after independence. Continue to the Uganda Museum to see traditional artifacts and exhibits about the country’s culture and early civilizations. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Drive from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes about 10 hours with a stop in Mbarara for lunch, where you can enjoy local dishes from the Banyankole community.
Continue your journey to Bwindi and check in at your lodge upon arrival. In the evening, you can take a short nature walk to explore the area and see some primates around the forest edges. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing by the park rangers about gorilla tracking rules and safety tips. Begin your trek through the forest to search for a gorilla family.
Spend one unforgettable hour watching the gorillas feed, play, and interact in their natural environment. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. You may spend the afternoon at the pool or simply enjoy the views of the mist-covered mountains.
Day 4: Drive to Entebbe and fly to Nairobi
After breakfast, check out and begin your drive back to Entebbe. The journey takes about 10 hours with a lunch stop at the equator, where you can take photos and learn interesting facts about the line that divides the earth.
Upon arrival in Entebbe, catch your flight to Nairobi, Kenya. On arrival, your driver will transfer you to your hotel for check-in and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer from Nairobi to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, drive to Amboseli National Park, which is about 3 and a half hours from Nairobi. On arrival, check in at your lodge and have lunch.
Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge, where you can enjoy the peaceful views of the open plains and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Day 6: Full-day game drives in Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, go for a full-day game drive through the savanna of Amboseli National Park. Expect to see lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes, zebras, jackals, servals, hyenas, elands, and many birds.
Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before heading out again for an afternoon game drive. Continue exploring until sunset, then return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Return to Nairobi and departure
After breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi, a journey of about 3 and a half hours. Upon arrival, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home, marking the end of your safari.
