Brief 6-Day Uganda Gorilla Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Rushaga sector from Kampala or Entebbe
Day 2: Gorilla trek in Nkuringo sector

Detailed 6-Day Uganda Gorilla Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Rushaga sector from Kampala or Entebbe

Your driver will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. Begin the scenic journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Rushaga sector, with lunch along the way. You will travel about 477 kilometers through Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale.

Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla trek in Nkuringo sector

After breakfast, head to the Nkuringo sector with your packed lunch. Attend a short briefing by park staff about trekking rules and safety. You will then be assigned a gorilla family and a guide.

Enter the forest with your guide and rangers to search for the gorillas. Once you find them, spend one hour watching and taking photos from a safe distance. Return to the starting point for debriefing and receive your first trekking certificate.

Go back to your lodge, relax, have dinner, and rest.

Day 3: Gorilla trek in Rushaga sector and transfer to Ruhija

After breakfast, check out with your packed lunch and drive to the Rushaga sector trailhead. Attend a briefing before heading into the forest for your second gorilla trek. Spend one hour watching the gorilla family once you find them and take photos.

After the trek, return for debriefing and get your second trekking certificate. Later, drive to the Ruhija sector, which takes about 2 to 3 hours. Check in at your lodge, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 4: Gorilla trek in Ruhija sector and transfer to Buhoma

Start your day with breakfast and packed lunch. Go to the Ruhija trailhead for another briefing before entering the forest. Track another habituated gorilla family with your guide and spend one hour watching them.

After the trek, return to the starting point for debriefing and receive your third trekking certificate. Then drive to the Buhoma sector, about two hours away. On arrival, check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest.

Day 5: Gorilla trek in Buhoma sector

After breakfast, drive to the Buhoma trailhead with your packed lunch. This is the first area in Uganda where gorillas were habituated for trekking. Attend the usual briefing before entering the forest with your ranger.

Spend one hour observing and photographing the gorillas. Return to the starting point for debriefing and receive your fourth trekking certificate. Spend the rest of the day relaxing at your lodge. Have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, check out and start the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. The drive covers about 445 kilometers and takes 10 to 11 hours. Stop in Mbarara for lunch before continuing to your final destination.

You will be dropped off at your hotel in Kampala or at Entebbe International Airport, marking the end of your 6-day 4 gorilla treks in all sectors of Uganda.
