Detailed 8-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

When you arrive in Uganda, your driver guide will welcome you and give a short briefing about the safari. You will then begin the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, your first destination. Stop for lunch along the way before continuing to your lodge. Arrive in the evening, check in, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community visit

After breakfast, go to the park offices for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and safety. You will be placed in a group of eight people and assigned a gorilla family with a ranger guide. Begin the trek through the forest to find your assigned gorilla group. Once you find them, spend one hour watching and taking photos as they play, feed, and rest. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Batwa pygmy community. Meet the elders and learn about their culture, traditions, and way of life. The Batwa are one of Africa’s oldest groups of forest dwellers. End your visit with traditional songs and dances before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and boat cruise

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes you through scenic hills and tea plantations before reaching the open savannah. Check in at your lodge and have lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. You will see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes along the shores. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Look out for lions, leopards, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes like waterbucks, bushbucks, and Uganda kobs. The savannah plains and vegetation also offer beautiful views of the park.

Return to your lodge for lunch and then check out. Drive to Kibale Forest National Park. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland visit

After breakfast, attend a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. You will then join your ranger and enter the forest to look for chimpanzees. When you find them, spend one hour watching and photographing them as they feed, play, and move through the trees. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland for a nature walk. You may see monkeys such as vervet, olive baboons, black-and-white colobus, and mangabeys. The area is also home to many bird species. Enjoy the cool forest air as the sun sets, then return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up early for breakfast, then check out and start your drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Have lunch along the way. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, relax, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 7: Game drive and boat cruise

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. The park is full of wildlife, and you may see lions, leopards, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, hyenas, and antelopes like oribis and topis. Visit the top of the falls to see where the Nile River forces its way through a narrow rock gap before falling below. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile. Enjoy views of the waterfall from a distance and watch hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and waterbucks along the riverbanks. The sunset over the river makes for a peaceful end to the day. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Rhino tracking at Ziwa Sanctuary and drive back to Kampala

After breakfast, check out and drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Go for a guided walking tour to see the southern white rhinos, which are protected in this sanctuary. Tracking is done on foot, allowing you to observe the rhinos closely and safely. You may also see waterbucks, bushbucks, and warthogs.

After the activity, continue your drive back to Kampala with lunch along the way. You will arrive in the evening and be dropped off at Entebbe Airport or your preferred location, marking the end of your 8 days Uganda safari.
