Detailed 3-Day Kigali Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
On arrival in Kigali, meet your driver guide for a short briefing about the safari. You will then begin the drive to Uganda through the Katuna border point. After clearing at the border, continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge, have dinner, and rest.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa village visit
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park offices for a briefing about gorilla trekking. The park rangers will explain the rules and assign you to a gorilla group along with seven other trekkers. After the briefing, enter the forest with your guide to begin the trek.
The trek may take several hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, spend one hour watching them as they feed, play, and interact. This close encounter with the mountain gorillas is an unforgettable experience. Afterward, return to the starting point where your driver will be waiting to take you back to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community near the park. The Batwa were the original forest dwellers of Bwindi and are known for their rich culture and traditional lifestyle. Learn about their history, customs, and daily life. Enjoy their traditional music and dance before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Kigali city tour and departure
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive back to Kigali. On arrival, enjoy a local lunch and take a short city tour. Visit key attractions such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi, the Inema Art Centre, and the Kimironko Market. You can also take a walk through the clean and organized streets of Kigali.
Later in the evening, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 3-day Bwindi gorilla trek from Kigali.
