Detailed 3-Day Rwanda Helicopter Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Helicopter flight from Kigali to Musanze
You will be met by our representative either at your hotel in Kigali or at Kigali International Airport. Board a chartered helicopter flight to Musanze, which takes about 30 minutes. During the flight, enjoy clear aerial views of Rwanda’s scenic countryside and volcanic ranges.
On arrival at Musanze airstrip, another representative will welcome you and transfer you to your lodge. Check in and relax for the rest of the day while enjoying the peaceful forest surroundings. In the evening, have dinner and spend the night at your lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village tour
Wake up early for breakfast and pack your lunch. Drive to the park headquarters for a briefing before the gorilla trek. The park guides will explain the trekking rules and assign you to a specific gorilla family. Armed rangers and experienced guides will lead you through the forest as you track the gorillas.
Once you find the gorilla family, spend one full hour watching them as they feed, play, and interact. You will be allowed to take photos as guided by your ranger. The entire trekking experience usually takes between 1 and 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Along the way, you may also spot wildlife such as olive baboons, vervet monkeys, and different birds.
In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a cultural experience. Here, you will learn about traditional Rwandan life, including music, dance, and storytelling. You can also take part in local activities like banana-beer making, traditional cooking, and craft making. Handcrafted items are available for purchase as souvenirs. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Helicopter flight back to Kigali
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and transfer to Musanze airstrip for your helicopter flight back to Kigali. On arrival, our representative will meet you and assist with your departure arrangements at Kigali International Airport.
