Day 1: Travel to Volcanoes National Park from Kigali after a short city tour

Start your safari with a brief city tour in Kigali. Visit local markets such as Kimironko Market, the Kigali Genocide Memorial, and art and craft centers. Learn about Rwanda’s history and daily life in this clean and vibrant city.

After the city tour, begin the journey to Volcanoes National Park with your driver guide. The drive takes about 3 hours through scenic countryside. On arrival, check in at your lodge, have dinner, and relax for the night as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking adventure

After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing. The park rangers will explain the rules and regulations for gorilla trekking, check your permits, and assign you to a trekking group. You can also hire porters to help carry your belongings.

Start your trek through the forest, which is home to birds, butterflies, and different plant species. Once you find the gorilla family, spend one unforgettable hour watching them. You will see the silverback leading the group, mothers caring for their young, and playful juveniles moving around. After this amazing experience, return to your lodge for lunch and enjoy a relaxed afternoon.

Day 3: Golden monkey trekking and transfer back to Kigali

After breakfast, return to the park for another exciting adventure; tracking the golden monkeys. This trek is usually shorter and easier than gorilla trekking, taking about 2 to 3 hours. Once you find the monkeys, spend an hour watching them feed, play, and interact with each other.
