Detailed 6-Day Bwindi Gorillas & Masai Mara Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins when you arrive at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. Your driver-guide will meet you and brief you about the trip before starting the drive to southwestern Uganda.

Enjoy the scenic drive and stop for lunch along the way. Continue to Bwindi, arriving at your lodge in the evening for dinner and rest.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa experience

Start your day with an early breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and safety. You will join a small group led by a ranger guide and walk through the forest in search of the gorillas.

Once you find them, spend one hour watching them feed, play, and care for their young. Take photos and enjoy this special moment before returning to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the nearby Batwa community. The Batwa are the original forest dwellers who once lived in Bwindi. Learn about their history, culture, and traditional skills such as fire-making and hunting. Enjoy their songs and dances before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Entebbe Airport and fly to Masai Mara National Reserve

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Entebbe. Have lunch on the way and continue to the airport to catch your flight to Kenya.

Upon arrival in Kenya, meet your local driver-guide who will transfer you to your lodge in the Masai Mara for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Full-day game drive

Begin your day with breakfast at the lodge and then head into the reserve for a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. The day will be divided into morning and afternoon sessions to cover different parts of the park.

Look out for animals such as lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and antelopes.

Have your lunch in the middle of the park and continue exploring in the afternoon. As evening approaches, watch predators prepare for their evening hunts before returning to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning game drive and Masai village tour

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive to see animals that are active after the night. You may spot lions resting after a night hunt or grazing herds enjoying the early morning calm.

Watch hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, wildebeests, and many more as you explore the plains.

Return to your lodge for lunch, then spend the afternoon visiting a Masai village. Learn about the Masai people, their cattle-keeping culture, dress code, and traditional ceremonies. Talk with Masai warriors and hear their stories about life in the Savannah.

In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Drive back to Nairobi city

After breakfast, check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi. The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours through the open plains and small towns.

Depending on your flight schedule, you may have lunch in the city before proceeding to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure flight.

This marks the end of your 6 days Bwindi gorillas and Masai Mara safari.
