Detailed 5-Day Uganda Rwanda Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After a short briefing about your safari from our driver-guide at the airport, you will begin your journey to Volcanoes National Park in northern Rwanda. If you arrive on an evening flight, you will reach your lodge before nightfall. Check in, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and visit to Dian Fossey Museum

After an early breakfast, drive to the park offices for a briefing about gorilla trekking. The rangers will explain the rules and safety guidelines for the trek. You will be divided into groups and assigned a gorilla family to track.

Start your trek through the forest, walking along narrow trails and thick vegetation until you find the gorillas. Once you meet them, spend one full hour observing their behavior, taking photos, and enjoying the experience. Return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Dian Fossey Museum to learn about the life and work of this famous primatologist. Dian Fossey dedicated her life to protecting gorillas and fighting against poaching. After the museum visit, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, check out of your lodge and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda. You will cross the border through Katuna and continue through the beautiful Kigezi highlands to Bwindi. Arrive in time for lunch, then spend the evening relaxing at your lodge or enjoying an optional short walk nearby. Have dinner and rest for the night.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community tour

After breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. You will be grouped and assigned a gorilla family before entering the forest with your ranger guides.

The trek may take several hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, you will have one hour to observe and photograph them as they feed, play, and interact. After this incredible encounter, return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the Bwindi forest before it became a national park. Learn about their traditional forest life, hunting skills, and cultural heritage. Enjoy their music, dance, and stories before heading back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Return to Kigali and departure

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Kigali through the Katuna border. The journey takes about two hours. Stop for lunch in Kigali before continuing to the airport for your departure flight.

This marks the end of your 5 days Uganda and Rwanda gorilla tour.
