Detailed 15-Day East Africa Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up from Entebbe Airport and transfer to the hotel
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and meet your Uganda guide. You will be transferred to your booked hotel for rest. Our company representative will meet you there and brief you about the 15-day Gorillas and Great Migration Safari.
Day 2: From Entebbe to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, start the journey to Kibale National Park using the Mubende-Fort Portal-Kamwenge route. The drive takes about 6 hours, with a stop for lunch in Fort Portal. On arrival, check in at your lodge and relax for the evening in preparation for the chimpanzee trek the next day.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest and afternoon nature walk in Bigodi Swamp
After breakfast, go to Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing before the chimpanzee trek. Kibale is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees, and several groups are habituated for visitors. Spend one hour observing and photographing them once found.
After lunch, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a nature walk. The area is rich in primates, birds, and other wildlife such as Sitatunga antelopes. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. Stop at the Kikorongo Equator for photos before continuing to the park. In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive to see elephants, buffaloes, lions, and other animals.
Day 5: Game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Begin your day with a morning game drive through the Kasenyi plains, known for large herds of Uganda kobs, elephants, and predators like lions and leopards.
In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Watch hippos, crocodiles, and various water birds along the channel’s edge. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (via Ishasha sector)
After breakfast, drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions. Continue to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the evening for check-in, dinner, and rest.
Day 7: Mountain gorilla trekking and Batwa village tour
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park offices for a gorilla trekking briefing. Learn about the trekking rules before heading into the forest with your ranger guide. Once you find a gorilla family, spend one full hour observing them and taking photos.
Later, return for lunch and visit the Batwa community in the evening. Learn about their traditions, songs, dances, and way of life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Bwindi to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda
After breakfast, depart Bwindi and cross into Rwanda. Arrive at Volcanoes National Park and check in at your lodge. Spend the afternoon relaxing and preparing for your next gorilla trekking adventure.
Day 9: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Iby’Iwacu cultural visit
After breakfast, drive to Kinigi park headquarters for a briefing. You will be assigned a gorilla group and guided by park rangers into the forest. Trekking may take 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, spend one hour watching them in their natural habitat.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village in the afternoon. Learn about Rwandan traditions through music, dance, and storytelling. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 10: Transfer to Kigali airport and flight to Nairobi
After breakfast, drive to Kigali Airport for your flight to Nairobi. On arrival in Kenya, meet our representative who will transfer you to your hotel for rest and dinner.
Day 11: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes about 6 hours through beautiful countryside. Arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive before dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 12: Great Migration experience in Masai Mara
Spend the day exploring Masai Mara. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles crossing the Mara River. You will also see the Big Five and other wildlife during the game drives. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Transfer from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, drive to the Isebania border where you will complete immigration formalities before entering Tanzania. Continue to Serengeti National Park with a game drive on the way. Check in at your lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 14: Great Migration safari in Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park. Watch herds of wildebeests, zebras, and antelopes as well as lions, elephants, giraffes, and cheetahs. Depending on the time of year, you may witness another part of the Great Migration. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 15: Drive to Arusha and departure
After breakfast, pack your belongings and check out. Drive to Arusha, where you will be dropped off for your departure flight.
