Detailed 4-Day Double Gorilla Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi National Park from Kampala or Entebbe
Meet your driver guide in Kampala or Entebbe and begin the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in the far southwestern part of Uganda. Enjoy the beautiful countryside along the way with several memorable stopovers, including one at the Uganda Equator for photos and a short break.
Continue the drive through the scenic highlands and arrive at your lodge in the evening. Check in, have dinner, and prepare for the next day’s adventure.
Day 2: First gorilla trekking in Rushaga sector and transfer to Ruhija
After breakfast, drive to the park offices for a short briefing. Park wardens will check your gorilla trekking permits, explain the rules, and assign you to a gorilla family.
With the help of an experienced ranger guide, begin your trek through the forest in search of the gorillas. The trek usually takes between 2 and 5 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, spend one hour observing their behavior and taking photos.
After the trek, drive to the Ruhija sector on the eastern side of Bwindi. Check in at your lodge, relax, enjoy dinner, and rest for the night while overlooking the forest.
Day 3: Second gorilla trekking in Ruhija sector
Start the day with breakfast and head to the Ruhija park offices for another briefing. Learn the trekking rules and join your ranger guide for your second gorilla trek.
While in the forest, enjoy seeing butterflies, birds, and other wildlife as you follow another gorilla family for one hour. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to visit nearby Batwa or Bakiga communities to learn about their traditions and way of life.
Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Drive back to Kampala – Departure
After breakfast, start the drive back to Kampala. The journey takes about 7 to 8 hours with several stops along the way, including one at the Uganda Equator for lunch and photos.
Continue the journey and arrive in Entebbe later in the evening. You will be dropped off at the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your 4-day double trekking tour in Bwindi National Park.
